I heard from a friend at work about a new trainer she was using and his program. I was hesitant; I didn’t want to talk with anyone about my “problem.” That would require admitting that it was a problem, and I didn’t think I was ready for that. I am independent and strong, and my weight was a complete contradiction to that truth. I had control over other areas of my life and loved who I was on the inside, but hated the outside and lived within that cloud of hate.
I came to realize that my weight was not a reflection of my lack of strength, but a reflection of other emotional problems. My excess weight was a shield I had built against those problems. Kevin was there to listen, support, push and teach as I made this discovery and worked to overcome these underlying issues. He and I developed a healthy eating plan and exercise program that was specific to my body type, and that focused in on my weak areas.
I lost 55 pounds and six dress sizes the healthy way—and I’ve kept the weight off. I’m proud of myself and hope that I can encourage others to become proud of themselves, too.
